Say Anything

This is my guilty pleasure song lately. I didn't know until I looked into posting it here that the music video is hilarious and awesome, too. And the word they blank out at the beginning is "stoned" as in "half-stoned with a pillow under my head." I tried to find it unedited, but alas, "stoned" is a naughty word.

Examiner.com

So I became the official MICA Arts Examiner for examiner.com today :) It's kindof exciting. Check out my first article- MICA prepares for Artscape. Let me know what you think!

Artscape 2010

Artscape 2010 starts tomorrow at 12noon and I, for one, am going to be there at noon. Mostly because I live on Mt. Royal so I'm right here but also because the earlier I am the more likely I will get most of the free samples. For a full schedule of everything this awesome festival has to offer, check out their website.

For the rest of the weekend, half of it will be spent in Frederick and the other half on my balcony, looking down on all the craziness that happens at Artscape. I'm pretty stoked :) Below is my new favorite Mt. Royal sculpture. Every year, with Artscape, comes a new set of Mt. Royal sculptures. A few have been really awesome over the years but a few have been really awful, too. Most of them this year don't really have my interest, but this one is wonderful. It makes me happy :)

Impossible

This is the video for Anberlin's first official single off of their new album. Once again, not that great of a music video. Did they only shoot like 5 minutes of footage and then try to cover their asses by making everything super slow-mo? Just curious. When I can find a video to embed I will.

*Updated 7/20 with video :)

*Updated 7/27:
So I've had this video on repeat a lot lately because I can't get enough of this song and, surprisingly, this video has grown on me. Now that I know the song I can say that the video is appropriate for it. It's still not my favorite music video from them, but it's better than I thought it was.

Coffin Quilts

This is what you get when you Google search "quilt tattoos." I want a quilt-inspired tattoo and I was looking for some inspiration, and while I found none, I did find this awesome website called Coffin Quilts. These are handmade quilts inspired by the quilter's tattoo artist husband's drawings. They are awesome. And PS- This website makes me want to both make a quilt and get another tattoo at the same time. No bueno.

Bears

When I had my final crit for senior thesis, Laurel Ptak of i heart photograph compared my work to Kent Rogowski's Bears. These are examples of my thesis series:

I've been meaning to blog about this series for a while because it's awesome. Rogowski takes teddy bears apart and then puts them back together inside-out. The photos are simple and adorable, yet haunting at the same time.

Marie Antoinette

I love you, Marie Antoinette. I love you, Sophia Coppola.

Annie Leibovitz took some pretty awesome photos for Vogue magazine of the set and characters. At the end of this clip, you see Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, talking about using Annie for the magazine.

Speaking of Anna Wintour, this is an awesome documentary about The September Issue of Vogue magazine. It's on Netflix Instant Watch and I think I've watched it 4 times already.
