Whatever happened to good music videos?

Yes, I love this song. There, I said it. But I must also say that I hate this video. Dear Britney, I can see that you're not into this. Your backup dancers have a million times more energy than you do and you just look bored. Go retire some where warm with your millions and millions of dollars. I promise you'll always have a piece of my heart because you = my adolescence.

The ParkeHarrison's

These photographs are from the series, Architect's Brother, by Robert and Shana ParkHarrison. Their website is terrible, but their photos are phenomenal. I'm kindof in love with this series- I pulled almost all of them to post here before I realized it. Go check out the rest of it on their website. PS- The last two images at the bottom of the page are from the Gray Dawn series- not as good as Brother, but still awesome.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Don't ask me how, but I hadn't heard anything about Fantastic Mr. Fox until I was standing in line for a ticket for it with a group of much more excited people than myself. However, I was extremely surprised at how great the movie was and how much I enjoyed it. It was gorgeous! The art of the whole thing was what fascinated me the most, so I gathered some pictures below of the making of the film. I heart stop motion animation. And Bill Murray :)

I Believe

I love this song. I love this album. I love this artist. Lyrics below.

Seen your face in every child that smiles,
but I can't help but rejoice.
And I've heard the song called thunder,
but I knew it was your voice.
Touched the holes in your calloused hands,
stuck my fingers in your side.
oh I was six-feet-deep in doubt but
now I'm sure that you're alive

And it's safe to say we'll never know everything still blessings we receive.
And it’s safe to say I really don't know a thing,
still I choose to believe.

Smelt the scent of angel sweet floating in the summer air.
I have breathed in deep the incense,
while the saints send up their prayers.

I have tasted now I see
oh I see that you are good.
And I have ate your perfect body,
and I have drank your blessed blood

And it's safe to say we'll never know everything still blessings we receive.
And it’s safe to say I really don't know a thing,
still I choose to believe.

And all the answers that I find,
only take me so far down the line.
The tracks always give out
yeah it's a leap from the lions mouth.

Happy Birthday!!!

Sons

I watched the season 2 finale of Sons of Anarchy last night. Um.... amazing. I'm not going to be surprised if I start a countdown until the start of the next season, and I never make countdowns for anything. The second half of this song was featured in the end of the second to last episode when the Sons were riding out to fight Weston and his gang. I loved it so much, I searched chat rooms for it. Somebody might need to schedule an intervention....

Perfume II

Another movie poster I found for Perfume.... I think I like this one more, though.  I swear I'm not obsessed with this movie- I just can't seem to get it out of my head :P

Perfume

Speaking of unsettling things- I watched Perfume: The Story of a Murderer tonight. It was gorgeous and fantastic and gory and horrifying all at the same time. I was both shocked by the overall beauty of the film, yet disturbed by the imagery. Personally, I'd call it a fairy tale. An extreme, yet beautiful, Boogie Man story. Did I mention this movie was gorgeous? Yeah, just see it.

Dexter

I recently worked my way through the first two seasons of Dexter and I loved it. What I loved a little bit more than the show, though, was the awesome opening sequence. The first time I saw it, I wasn't sure weather to be enthralled or nauseous... gotta love things like that.

Good Job...

Good job, 30 seconds to mars, on making an entirely too expensive music video.

Muniz

Vik Muniz is a photographer. His work is made from diamonds, dust, caviar, thread, wire, dirt, chocolate, and garbage, but he is a photographer. He shapes portraits from the materials listed above only to photograph them, then they're destroyed. Everything was done for the photograph and it only exists as a photograph. I like that. And his work is fucking sweet.

These are his Caviar Monsters

His Diamond Beauties

This is a portrait of an Army Soldier shaped by toy soldiers. The picture directly below is a detail.

He worked briefly in these landscape drawing photos. Still, very impressive.

Made from chocolate.

Sigmund Freud in chocolate.

A landscape made from piled thread.

The artist's self portrait made from magazine clippings.

New work, puzzle photographs of famous portraits.

To see a lot more of his work, visit his website.

These are Arno Minkkinen's self portraits, and they are awesome :)
