Batgirl

Today for Large Format class we took a trip to the Geppi's Entertainment Museum at Camden Yards. It was AMAZING!! I took over 200 pics, so once I edit them down, I'll post a few. The one from above was probably my favorite thing in the whole place. Now I want to be Batgirl for Halloween and I'm trying to figure out how to throw a costume together by tomorrow... Wish me luck :)

Fingerless Mittens

Pink & Blue

We talked about JeongMee Yoon's ongoing Pink & Blue Project the other day in class and I fell in love with these images. They're awesome by themselves, but all of the prints combined make an even larger statement (there are about 60 on the website). The artist said this in her statement:
This project explores the trends in cultural preferences and the differences in the tastes of children (and their parents) from diverse cultures, ethnic groups as well as gender socialization and identity. The work also raises other issues, such as the relationship between gender and consumerism, urbanization, the globalization of consumerism and the new capitalism.

Scott Campbell

Scott Campbell likes to cut money, and I'm okay with that. These sculptures are (get ready for the pun) money. They are stacks of 100 $1 bills that the artist has laser cut designs into. Scott is a tattoo artist based in New York City and uses tattoo iconography in his artwork. This show, called "Always Almost There," is on display right now at the Lazarides Gallery in London. Loooooove it. Go here for the original article I saw this in and go here for Campbell's website. His site has a ton of his tattoo work on it as well as his fine art work, which is also definitely worth seeing.

Marty Magic

So I went to Renn Fest and all I came home with was the name of this awesome jewelry maker and a hangover :P Marty Magic had a stand at the Fest and this stuff was awesome- just had to share. See tons more on their site.

I think this one is tied with the first one of the snake as my favorite.

Lucas

I'm working on a presentation about artist Sarah Lucas right now for my class tomorrow. She's pretty great- she works a lot with sculpture and installation and self portraits. This is one of her self portraits- probably my favorite. Expect more about her later after I finish the presentation.

I <3 Street Art!
